Art in a Season of Revolution

May 16 – Aug 2, 2026

Reception May 16, 2026 | 4-6 PM

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE YOUR WORK AT ARTSWESTCHESTER!

Art in a Season of revolution is a call to action for artists of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association (KMAA) to respond to the 250-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  It was in 1776 that 56 delegates of the Second Continental Congress signed this handwritten declaration committing to the colonies' separation from Great Britain.  Since then, we’ve spent two and a half centuries constructing a unique identity, culture, attitude, and set of core values derived from our rich diversity and political history.

In additional to the contributions from The KMAA, a selection of small relief sculptures from The American Medallic Sculpture Association will be exhibited as well in addition to the inclusion of a few invited artists.

KMA JURIED EXHIBITION

EXHIBITION DATES

June 11 – June 14, 2026

🌸 Art in Bloom 🌸

An upcoming juried exhibition for KMAA members celebrating growth, renewal, and creative vitality— to be held at the Katonah Museum of Art, making this a truly special opportunity for our artist community.

Submissions open January 19.

EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

Art In Bloom is a collaborative exhibition that pairs selected KMAA artists with floral designers in our community. Each chosen artist’s work will serve as the conceptual and visual point of departure for a floral interpretation created specifically in response to the artwork.

Juried by KMA Associate Curator Elizabeth Monti, this exhibition explores how ideas, materials, symbolism, and emotional tone translate across disciplines—particularly between static or time-based artworks and living, ephemeral floral forms. Rather than treating floral arrangements as decorative accompaniments, the exhibition positions them as interpretive responses that exist in active dialogue with the original artwork.

Selected artworks will be paired with a floral designer whose practice aligns conceptually, formally, or thematically with the work. Pairings are intended to foster conversation rather than replication, allowing for contrast, reinterpretation, and unexpected connections.

Selected artists will exhibit one completed artwork as the inspiration for a floral arrangement. Artists are not expected to collaborate on the creation of the floral arrangement.

EXHIBITION FORMAT

The exhibition will feature 16 artworks; each one will be paired with a floral arrangement. The artwork and floral arrangement will be installed together as a unified presentation within the gallery. Floral works are inherently temporary and may evolve or be refreshed during the exhibition, underscoring the contrast between permanence and impermanence.
